Here's Paul with Johnny and Jackie Gibson. Well, I think right after the

death of your baby, you just, you feel immediately changed, which is true. But I also thought,

I don't think I'll ever recover from this. I don't think I'll ever feel joy again.

You can't imagine that the pain will ever soften, but I suppose the reason I included this

chapter in the book is I wanted women to know that there is healing from the Lord over time,

not full and complete this side of heaven,

but he is always doing a work in our lives to bind up our wounds.

And so my own experience eight years later is my pain is very different.

It's not as sharp.

It's softened.

I am not in the depths of grief as I was after Layla died. That's not to say I can't still weep like it happened yesterday, especially

around anniversaries. That can be raw. But I guess there's the danger for women who have had

these kinds of loss, any kind of loss for men and women, that our Greek can become our idol and something we don't want to change that we want to nurse and hold on to. I certainly can relate to having felt that. So there has to be a willingness to say,

okay, God, you promise that you are healing the brokenhearted.

What does that look like in my life?

And he gives us so many means of healing.

Time does not heal all wounds, but time can soften it

as time passes.
