Summary

Legalizing medical cannabis may have paved the way for recreational use in many states, but what is actually known about cannabis as a medical treatment? Dr. Johannes Thrul, a Johns Hopkins substance use researcher, talks with Lindsay Smith Rogers about why there are huge gaps in research of the risks and benefits of cannabis, and how legalization might create new opportunities to finally get some answers.

Sure. So today we are going to talk about cannabis. As of right now, I think some 23 states in the District of Columbia have legal recreational cannabis and other states have decriminalized it or proved it for medical use.

There's a whole spectrum.

And here in Maryland, even as of July 1st, anyone over 21 can buy cannabis for recreational use.

A friend of mine recently said he did not think you would see this in our lifetime.
