0:00.0	Hey everyone, before the episode gets started, it's Scott. Hi. I'm adding this to the show a number of weeks after it's been recorded.
0:08.9	So at some point in this episode, we are going to talk about
0:12.9	trying to figure out settings for this person's Omni Pod 5.
0:17.8	And I'm going to muse for a while about basil and maybe turning up basil would help it be more aggressive.
0:25.0	Keeping in mind I've never actually used Omni Pod 5 yet.
0:28.7	And I was just sort of spitballing, but it turns out that that's not a great idea.
0:34.4	And I have a note here from Omni Pod about it.
0:37.4	So let me just say this before the show starts and keep this in mind when you get to the part where you hear me saying the thing about the basil.
0:45.0	This is directly from Omni Pod. In automated mode, target glucose is the main setting that can be changed to adjust automated insulin delivery.
0:54.7	Changing basil rates and settings like max basil will have no impact on automated insulin delivery and will only impact manual mode basil delivery.
1:06.0	So now in my words to kind of boil it down for you, I was musing that maybe making the basil insulin a little stronger might make the algorithm more aggressive.
1:17.5	I wasn't sure I was just again guessing out loud.
1:21.8	The concern there is that if you for some reason come out of automated mode for whatever reason, like you turn it off and go to manual or I guess you could lose your CGM data or whatever else could possibly happen where you'd leave automation the system then defaults to your basil rate.
1:40.9	So if making up numbers, if your basil rate really should be one unit an hour, but you made it 1.2 an hour to make it more aggressive when you lose automation, it can't dial back the basil any longer and then your basil could be too strong.
1:59.6	So anyway, I wanted to be clear about that and let you know that we found a way to pick through Omni Pod 5 a little better. So here it is.
2:11.6	In the very near future, the Omni Pod team is going to come back onto the podcast to share some pro tips and have these conversations with me so that you can make the most out of your Omni Pod 5 experience.
