On November 22, 1994, Special Agents John Kuchta, Martha Dixon Martinez, and Michael Miller were working on a Washington DC cold case squad with Sgt. Hank Daly. Only John would survive that day. A felon illegally in possession of an automatic weapon ended up in the wrong room at police headquarters and opened fire. Hit multiple times in the arm, chest, heart, wrist, and leg, John returned fire and helped end the ambush. The heroic actions of everyone stopped a cold-blooded killer from taking even more lives.
