Hey everyone, today is the feast of the bodily assumption of Mary into heaven.

So I'm going to respond to Dr. Gavin Orton's critique of this dogma.

As you've heard me say before, Dr. Orton is one of my favorite Protestant apologists,

because he's thoughtful and he's very gracious.

And he's also put forward a lot of helpful research in this video, which he does for all

his videos for us to interact with.

But don't expect Gavin to respond quickly if he responds at all.

From what I remember, his wife is giving birth this month, so pray for him as a father

of young children.

I know he has his hands full.

I think it's like his fourth or fifth child, which is awesome, because the Bible says,

once you have six children, you have to become Catholic or Mormon.

So he's almost there.

But in any case, when it comes to follow up for this video, I have no interest in debating

the assumption in particular, because I don't debate subjects where I'm too far removed

from the other person, theologically, on the subject.

Such a debate would be like debating a Jehovah's Witness on whether he Christ had a divine

and a human will.

We already disagree on too many fundamental issues to have a fruitful debate.

However, Gavin has agreed to debate me on Soluscriptura and Apostolic Succession.

So we just have to find a time to do that.
