castles aplenty. The Rhine River Valley is storybook Germany, complete with

legends told by those who navigated its waters. Of course, they couldn't admit

that they were bad sailors, so they had to come up with a story. It's also

witnessed a lot of important history. East of the Rhine, the barbarians live west

of the Rhine with civilization, and that idea went all the way through in
