What a short summary statement of one of the saddest chapters in David's life and this part of the

Bible for sure David's sin with Bathsheba described in 2nd Samuel chapter 11 and 12 would have

huge ramifications for David's life, family, leadership for the rest of his life, and not just him for others, for

Bathsheba, of course for her husband, Uriah, who died as a result of David's sin,

for the child that would be born to Bathsheba, and would die,

we could spend a lot of time talking about the effects of sin on David's life and leadership and many others.

But this summary statement is a clear reminder of where it all started.

The thing that David had done displeased the Lord.

This is the essence of sin in your life and my life.

We sin when we displease God.

When we do what we want to do, what we think is good, what we desire, what we think is right

instead of keeping her eyes fixed on God and saying what do you say is good? What do you say is right?

What do you desire? And so 2nd Samuel Chapter 11,

verse 27 causes me I pray causes you to examine your heart

before God right now and for us to ask what in our lives what in our thinking in our lives?

What in our thinking, in our desiring, in the way we speak, in the way we act, in what we are doing, or what we are not doing?

What in our lives is not pleasing to God and to realize that for anything that is

not pleasing to God in our lives. The effects of that will be seen in a variety of different ways, not just in our lives, but in the lives of people around us.
