When the weather finally turns pleasant and the kids have been cooped up, it's hard not to send them outside to get some fresh air and stretch their muscles.

It may not be as big a thing nowadays, but when I was a kid, we lived outside.

As soon as there was a hint of spring in the air, the neighborhood streets would fill with the sound of kids having fun. We did it for generations

and didn't even blink. Nothing will happen to us or our kids or the kids on our street or our

town, but it does, and it always has and sometimes it's by the

same person.

What makes a killer return to a random spot to kill again?

We heard about it a few weeks ago when Travis Santay

Lewis returned to horseshoe plantation, intent to kill again. Robbery was the

assumed motive in both of his murders, but why Rob from the very family he had already caused irreparable harm to?

He's gone and will likely never know.

I mentioned then that we would revisit the topic of paroled kid killers soon and that time has arrived.

This week on murderous miners we head to Kankakee County, Illinois twice and over the span of almost two decades.

I wanted to start a special series, actually more than a year in the making.
