Okay. In the last episode, we saw how the reign of Catherine of Braganza had gotten off to an extremely shaky start.

Her Catholicism, sheltered daily life and poor grasp of English language or culture had made her an outsider at our new court,

and the presence of rivals for the affection of her husband in Barbara Palmer and Francis Stewart,

though the latter was a reluctant participant in that game, had hardly helped.
