Summary

We talk in detail about Royal Caribbean Adventure of the Seas. This is one of Royal Caribbean's first ships sailing for US residents. Where are the quiet spots, how does it manage passenger flow and any special spots that stick out.

Sherry has cruise news on:
  • The CDC has changed some rather important guidance.
  • Florida is heated and things could get there in Alaska
  • More cancellations
  • A big payday for one cruise line executive
  • A royal ship plans to move to the west coast sooner than expected

Listener Question:

I took a cruise in 2005 aboard the Norwegian Wind out of Honolulu that had a foreign port stop at Fanning Island (Kiribati, Gilbert Islands).  Whatever happened to Fanning Island? Will it ever be a cruise stop again?  - Paul

What we're going to do today is take a look back at Adventure of the Seas. So my buddy Tommy cruised it last January, so January of 2020. 0:43.8

when it starts sailing and all the good stuff like that. Also, Sherry Laskin is here with

1:01.4

conditional sailing orders since October, but that content remained pretty vague as to when

1:06.8

cruise ships might sail again from U.S. ports.

1:09.9

Now, this new phase 2A update contained a laundry

1:13.2

list of procedures the cruise lines would need to follow, but nothing at all about a restart date.

1:24.8

to sue the CDC, and Carnival hinting that they move all of their ships to foreign ports,

1:30.9

the CDC backtracked a little bit on one sticking point.

1:35.7

And what they changed was the requirement, the original requirement, for a 12-hour lapse

1:41.3

where exiting and embarking cruise passengers couldn't occupy the same gangway,
