I want to talk about what I think is the strongest sign of emotional intelligence, emotional maturity, the strongest sign that you're with a partner or you're with a friend who can grow with you, who understands you, who is patient with you, who will stand by you in the same way you do all of those things for them.

And it's not knowing somehow that that person will never hurt you or always be aware of their actions and how they affect you.

It's not expecting someone to have emotional intelligence to the highest level,

the greatest amount of emotional maturity possible and as a result they rarely

disappoint you. It's not that. That would be perfection and isn't realistic.

Rather, it's that you are with someone who has emotional intelligence and emotional maturity and as a result when they do inevitably

Hurt you unintentionally or disappoint you or they make you feel a certain negative way they know how to

apologize they know how to admit when they're wrong. Apologizing.

Apologizing is not a sign of immaturity.

It's not a sign of wrongness.
