Welcome to Mormon Stories Live. My name is John DeLin. I am very happy that you have joined us today.

It's April 6th. I think that's an important day. Isn't there something about that day? I'm kidding.

Yeah, yeah. We're here on the anniversary of the LDS Church actually, of its founding. And on Jesus' birthday, is that right?

And the FLDS apocalypse.

It's an important, it's a auspicious day.

Again, my name is John DeLin from Mormon Stories Podcast. And we are here super excited for this topic.

Very grateful that you guys have all joined us tonight. The title of this panel is Black Mormon Lives Matter.

I would like to begin by just giving a tiny bit of history on this topic.

We're going to get into this a little bit. I'm going to introduce my guest in just a second.

Just to give a little background. Early in Mormon Stories history, I knew that the Blacks and the priesthood issue was important.

I got Darren Smith on who had written a book about race in the church just to talk about the historical perspective.

And I kind of felt like I had done my duty for race in the church. I am admitting right now how awful that sounds now.

But at the time, that's kind of how I felt. So we've covered it. Now we can move on to other important issues.
