time for a five-minute Friday. And it's Mother's Day this weekend. This whole week, we're

celebrating mothers. I'm here in the office with amazing mother Carmen. Say, hey, Carmen. Hi.

And someday future mother Eunice and myself.

So I had twins, I had them in my chief year of residency.

I was in surgery, had a neck surgery at UCLA.

I just want to tell you one of the top five programs in the country and they really kick your ass.

And doing those 10-hour operations where they transplant a flap of tissue from your femur and

your tibia all the way up into your jawline and big head and neck cancer surgeries it was a hard

hard year and it was hard to get pregnant Carmen was it hard for you to get pregnant oh my lord I

tried for I tried to get pregnant for seven years.

Dang, seven years. Yeah, I got married right after med school and we assumed we were going to get

pregnant super fast. Of course, my husband matched at UCSF and I was at UCLA. We drove like flew Southwest

every single weekend. So when we didn't get pregnant, those three years,

we assumed it was, you know, all the travel and all that. And maybe that was a good thing.

But then when we really wanted to get pregnant, it was so hard to get pregnant. Don't you think,

Eunice, that it's hard for women these days to get pregnant? Yeah, too much stress. I honestly think the

stress level that we inflict upon ourselves to have perfect lives and perfectly timed pregnancies is a lot

for women these days. Carmen, you have two daughters. I have three daughters. What are we going to

tell our daughters about this process of getting pregnant and how, I mean, so many times I laugh because my daughters are like, no, I'm doing it at this age.

And it's like, you can't even plan like that, girl.
