The Paul Foot Award for those of you who haven't heard one of these before

is the eyes annual award for investigative and campaigning journalism.

It was established in memory of the late great eye journalist Paul Foot

who died in 2004 and it exists to reward extraordinary feats of journalism.

This year's shortlist is packed as every as shortlist is with brilliant stories,

features, investigations and campaigns by some of the best journalists working in the country today.

It's obviously been a very unusual year for news not only because so much of the news has

revolved around coronavirus, but also because so many of the stories have been produced

under extraordinary conditions working from home is not an ideal way to talk to sources,

make new connections, finally get stories to stack up.

Nonetheless, all of the seven stories and investigations shortlist of this year

have managed to do just that. We're going to be speaking to the journalists behind
