And today, we're not talking about a single person.

Breaking format.

We're actually going to be talking about books, film books to be specific, because me and Will, we love to read.

We see ourselves as intellectuals.

I consider myself a public intellectual because I have two podcasts.

And that as readers, I've always found that the way that I find new books is either browsing the

aisle of the library, looking for spines that catch my interest, or writing best film books,

and checking out whatever comes up. Yeah, and I find it just pops up on Amazon and then I

compulsively buy it. And then it sits on a shelf collecting dust for a long time. Exactly.

Or, you know, I go to BMW and I find a used copy there. And you ever have the experience where you finished reading a book and you think, boy, that was easy. I can read a ton of these. Then you go and buy 10 and then they just fucking sit there. How hard would it be to read one book a day? how much more knowledgeable would I be in my day-to-day life?

Oh, it'd be great.

I'm reading a novel right now. I'm reading 1984. I love it. It takes so fucking long to read one of these things.

Because a movie you can do in 90 minutes. It's great. I mean, you don't watch television either for the same reason.

I know.

And I think that as cinefiles, the thing that really started me on my path was reading about these movies in books.

Yeah.

Because I lived in a small town and I didn't have any cinemas to go to.

I had no video stores that I could rent movies.
