Today we're diving into the early part of Mariah Carey's career.

Between 1990 and 1995 she released five hit albums.

That's five albums in five years.

Her self-titled debut album was released on June 12, 1990, selling over 6 million

copies and winning the Grammy for Best New Artist.

Since that debut she said 18 number one hits more than any other solo artist in history.

I mean we could talk about a lot of different Mariah errors but we're gonna focus on 1990

to 1995.

Born in Long Island New York it's unclear whether she was born in 1969 or 1970 as Mariah

celebrates anniversaries, not birthdays, so Wikipedia lists both years as her birthday.

She has an unparalleled vocal range and countless records in the books.

She spent the most weeks at number one with one sweet day off the day your album.

And just this year Billboard released a list of the biggest hits in hot 100 history.

Mariah Carey bested every other artist with a record 11 entries on the list.

She's not just a singer, she's a writer who has written almost all of her hits to date.

Everything from vision of love to all I want for Christmas and fantasy.

And just this past year she was nominated for a Golden Globe for her song The Star and

she's currently headlining Vegas and working on a new album.
