Summary

Back in the studio we have Jill Maddison, Professor of General Practice and has an international reputation from pharmacology to clinical problem solving. Currently the chair of the World Small Animal Veterinary Association Continuing Education Committee. We were listening to her discus how she uses pancreatic lipase tests in practice and thought it would be good to share. There might be a little sensitivity and specificity to consider though we hope that you enjoy.

0:38.5

for coming back in and having a chat. Thank you, Joel. And I thought what we could talk about

0:43.7

is this like canine pancreatic specific lipase. And I suppose more specifically where you think

0:51.0

it should be used or is clinically useful and maybe where, you know, and how you use it in practice.

1:00.6

Okay, that's a fairly open question.

1:02.5

Is it okay if we also talk about feline as well?

1:05.3

Yeah, absolutely.

1:06.0

1:06.9

No, we can, we can, we don't have to be speciesists.

1:09.4

Okay, all right, okay.

1:10.9

So I think, as you know, the pancreatic lipase immunoreactivity test has been around for a few years now and was launched and is it, you know, addition to our sort of range of tests that we've got in the diagnosis of pancreatitis.

1:26.8

And I think as we all recognize as well, pancreatitis in dogs and cats is different.

1:32.7

And we've got more likely to have acute pancreatitis in dogs,
