0:36.7 | And the help could start now. Is that dash slash? Is that how that works? I mean, the fact that you're still bringing up 2016, we're at the end of 17. I mean, I'm just saying what we've never, we never did that in 16. We've done it in 17. And we won't do it in 18. No. What we will do is always introduce the guest right away here in the wait room. Ladies and gentlemen, please welcome Farley Elliott. Hey guys. Went up to it. Yeah. Senior editor of Eat L.A. Eater. L.A. God damn it. And I asked you before and I knew it. That's okay. Eater L.A. And then also author of Los Angeles street foods. Yeah. A history from Tom Aleros to Taco Trucks. Exactly. Man, we're happy to have you in here, buddy. Thanks so much for having me. I feel like I'm going to angle this conversation about like athleticism and workouts more towards like, what's up with food? I know. That's fine. I think that's people are very interested in that. I think this should be the food episode since we're dealing with the ultimate foodie. Yeah. And, uh, yeah. Well, I mean, so, so you're also, you know, actor, comedian too. And then now, you know, working as kind of like a food personality. But I think just so people know, like, |
1:45.2 | what areas do you focus in specifically? I know LA, obviously, is. Yeah, so my job is |
1:50.8 | essentially like, I'm not a food critic. I'm not anonymous. I'm like a sports reporter, but for food. |
1:55.1 | So I go out and talk about everything that's happening in the restaurant industry all day long. |
2:00.0 | I read about six stories a day, five days a week. And the way that I get access to that information before anybody else is to spend a lot of time in restaurants. The intersection that I figured out pretty early on was like, if I do a good job and I'm nice to everybody and you always see me in the place that you work, there's no way you're going to give that information to anybody else. And so I'm constantly like retreading those same three steps. And it's fun and interesting. And we talk about hard stuff like sexual harassment sometimes. We also talk about really fun stuff, like cool new places to go eat and what to experience in your part of the world. Yeah. So you're like the J. Glazier of food. Do you know who that is? Yeah. I'm constantly like sending out breaking tweets about people who are heard in kitchens. Right. |
2:17.7 | But it's all. So you're like the J. Glazier of food. Do you know who that is? Yeah, yeah. I'm constantly like |
2:34.4 | sending out breaking tweets about people who are heard in kitchens. Right. But it's all your, |
2:38.6 | based on your personal relationships. Like people like you and you do your, you do your, you pay |
2:44.2 | into their bank account emotionally. Yeah. And that really is true. Like my job is to is to be known |
2:50.3 | is to go into restaurants and shake hands. |
2:51.9 | I also spend time like at City Hall pulling public records for stuff that's about to be built. |
2:56.6 | Like, oh wow. |
2:57.2 | I do I do second level, third level conversations where sometimes the breaking information that I get will come from random sources like a construction guy. |
3:05.5 | Or if you ever want to know if a restaurant is closed, |
