Sword and Sorcery had a massive influence on role-playing games such as Dungeons and Dragons,

and strongly influenced the modern Grim Dark movement, which includes authors such as Joe

Abercrombie and George R. Martin. And I'm joined today by Philip Gillette and Morgan

Galen King, creators of the animated Sword and sorcery film The Spine of Night.

And so we're going to start off and talk about our experiences with sword and sorcery growing up.

So I'll start us off.

So as a kid growing up in the 1980s, sword and sorcery was absolutely everywhere. It was

pretty awesome. So I grew up watching like Humana and the Masters of the Universe cartoon.

And you would just go to the arcade and there would be Ross Don and Golden Axe, these kind

of like barbarian themed fantasy, sword and sorcery arcade games.
