Tutmo's the first was stomping up and down the riverlands of Nubia.

He was slaughtering locals, carving his name on landmarks so people knew who he was,

and generally making a nuisance of himself in the name of exploration and conquest.

He was also undertaking a few small projects, like fixing a canal in the north of the country,

which was built by his predecessor Senusiret III in the Middle Kingdom,

but had since fallen into disrepair.

With those projects and the campaign out of the way the king was now

slowly making his way back to Egypt. In his absence big projects were taking shape.

At home in Thebes, the machinery of government was ticking along quite well without the

king.
