I don't encounter people very often who understand and see the value of talking to people who you disagree with, much less people who hate you.

And I've definitely personally felt quite isolated in that impulse.

I have my whole history, it is what it is.

I've accused of a horrible crime and went to jail and then had to fight to prove my innocence.

All of that is a part of it.

But I remember sitting there in my jail cell thinking

that I wanted to know why.
