Ben McAdams has had an unusual life in public service, running as a moderate Democrat in

a very conservative Republican state. He managed to be elected as a state senator, then

a Salt Lake County Mayor, and then as a Utah Congressman. Concern for the disadvantaged

has always been a driving force in his public life. When McAdams was tasked as mayor with
