Bernard is a five-time Olympian, two-time medalist, and an 11-time world championship medalist.

He also holds seven American records.

He's the Energizer Bunny. He just

keeps going and going. He's

43 years old and still at the top

of his game. This guy is

what legends are made of. In this

his longevity in the sport, and his

Okay, so, Bernard, I've known you as Bernard for years, but now this Kip thing is throwing me,

and it's been throwing me for the last few years because a lot of people are now calling you Kip Lagat. Yes. So what do you want? Like when we do commentary or when, you know, I'm introducing you here at C-Tali, Ron, what do you want us to call you? Well, I think a lot of people know me as Bernard Lagat. So I think maybe we can introduce me as Bernard because that's what people know. But the people that are close to me and good friends of mine like yourself, which I'm

actually disappointed, you haven't been calling me Kit.

Okay.

Yeah, they called me Kip because, you know, Kip Chershire is my last, I mean, my middle name.

So in college, so in college my coach, you know, like to use Kip Cherkshire all the time. But then my teammates started using that name. So in college, so in college, my coach, you know, like to use Kip Cherokee

all the time. But then my teammates started using that name and they were mispronouncing it and

using it the bad way, you know, it didn't sound good. So it didn't bother me, but it bothered

my roommate and my teammate from Kenya. And then he told everybody, hey, listen, guys,

from today onwards, we are not going, hey, listen, guys, from today
