A top U.S. climate official says President Joe Biden's administration is racing to distribute climate and environment funds before President-elect Donald Trump takes office.

For those of us dedicated to climate action, last week shall come in the United States is obviously bitterly disappointing.

It is clear that the next administration will try to take a U-turn and reverse much of this

progress. That's John Podesta, a senior White House advisor on clean energy. He's also leading

the U.S. delegation at the COP 29 United Nations Climate Change Conference in Azerbaijan.

CNN's Ellen Nelson has the latest on the scramble to Trump-proof U.S. climate policy.

So Podesta was trying to reassure the world that the Biden administration is still working to get its climate agenda accomplished in the next two months.

He's working to get funding from a major climate law out the door and finalize a few

outstanding regulations.

However, there's a lot that Trump could overturn and upend when he takes office in January.

For instance, he's expected to once again pull the U.S. out of the Paris Climate Agreement.

One potential bright spot for Biden is his 2022 climate law, which could be hard for Republicans to overturn because a lot of its funding is going to red states.
