Hello from CNN, I'm Joe Beck with the five things you need to know for Wednesday

September 18th. People in Lebanon are reeling this morning after hundreds of pages

used by the militant group Hezbollah simultaneously

exploded across the country yesterday, killing at least nine people and

injuring thousands. CNN has learned that Israel was behind the attack,

which was a joint operation between its intelligence service and the Israeli military

targeting Hezbollah militants. Hezbollah is vowing to retaliate and the Lebanese government has condemned the attack as quote

criminal Israeli aggression, while Israel has amounts of explosives inside these pages next to the battery along with a switch which would enable them to be

detonated remotely. At the same time we are also learning that the devices seem to be made by a company called Gold Apollo.

This is a Taiwanese-based manufacturer of these pages.

But the chairman of that company says that the model in question was manufactured

under license by a Hungarian distributor that goes by the name of BAC consulting.

Now what we don't know of course is at what point these explosives managed to find their way into these pages.

Former President Donald Trump held his first town hall last night

since the second apparent assassination attempt

against him on Sunday.

Only consequential presidents get shot at.

Trump told the Michigan crowd that he was going to bring more

automaker plants to the state and bring down energy costs,

without going into any real specifics about how he plans to do it.

Meanwhile, Vice President Carmelah Harris sat down with the National Association of Black Journalists in Philadelphia,

where she also continued to stick to broad themes and big ideas instead of policy detail.
