The threat of what retaliation from Iran could do to Israel and to the ceasefire talks

is ramping up tensions in the Middle East.

Tehran is vowing to strike at Israel for the recent assassinations of Hezbollah and Hamas leaders.

CNN's Jeremy Diamond has the latest on the intense diplomatic efforts trying to prevent an attack.

Both the British Prime Minister as well as the German Chancellor speaking with the Iranian

President trying to urge restraint, trying to urge de-escalation.

And one of the key reasons for that, of course, is what's expected to come later this week.

And that is on Thursday when the United States, Egypt, and Qatar are trying to convene Israel and Hamas for the next round of negotiations to try and finalize a ceasefire agreement.

U.S. officials say the negotiations were in an advanced stage before the assassinations,

and worry a major reprisal from Iran could derail them.

Donald Trump is posting on X again.

After a 40 minute delay, the former president sat down for an interview with the social media platforms owner, Elon Musk, to mark the occasion last night,

and spoke about some of the things he would do if he got

into office again.
