Hello from CNN, I'm Joe Beck, with the five things you need to know for Monday, March 4th.

A growing number of children are starving to death in Gaza,

a ceasefire negotiations continue to hit sticking points.

The Palestinian Health Ministry says the lack of aid getting in has led to deadly levels of

dehydration and malnutrition. Israel is under intense pressure from the rest of the world to end the fighting and let

desperately needed supplies into the strip.

Even the US, which has been quick to support and defend Israel in the past is now calling for action.

People in Gaza are starving. The conditions are inhumane and the Israeli government must do more to significantly increase

lower pay. No excuses. That was Vice President Carmelah Harris, reiterating calls for a six-week pause in fighting.

But while negotiators gathered in Egypt for talks on a ceasefire and hostage deal yesterday, Israel didn't send representatives

to take part, with an official saying they didn't go because Hamas hadn't responded to some demands.

This comes as the US and Jordan carried out aid air drops in Gaza over the weekend,

after Biden promised to pull out quote every stop to get humanitarian supplies in.

CNN projects that Nicky Haley has won the Washington DC Republican primary. It's her first, and so far only, win in the race to become the GOP's presidential nominee. It comes ahead of

Super Tuesday tomorrow which may decide if Haley can stay in the race or not.
