After weeks of pressure from within his own party, President Joe Biden has ended his 2024 run and endorsed Vice President

Kamala Harris to take his place as nominee.

Biden put out a statement announcing that he was dropping out of the race yesterday afternoon,

saying he believes it's in the best interest of his party and the country.

He said he'll stay in office until the next president is inaugurated in January, and will address the nation later this week.

This is a huge moment for him, for his family, for all of us who love him, for all of us who

wanted him to get across the finish line. This is leadership. This is patriotism. This is

what it means to put the country first and put to party first and put the

cost first. When your arm gets tired you let somebody else finish pitching the game.

That's what Joe Biden has done and he's done that for all of us and so I just know that I love this man I

care about this man it was painful every day to sit up here and talk about him like he's

just a you know some problem for the party I appreciate what he's done and a lot of people are

heartbroken today even if it's the right thing it's still just horrible. In a phone call

with CNN minutes after Biden announced his exit from the race, former

President Donald Trump described him as the single worst

president by far in US history. And how Speaker Mike Johnson has called for Biden to resign,

saying, quote, if Joe Biden is not fit to run

for president he's not fit to serve as president. Meanwhile Harris says she's

honored to get Biden's endorsement and has promised to quote earn and win the nomination.
