Hello from CNN I'm Joe Beck with the five things you need to know for Monday

September 18th. Five Americans who had been imprisoned in Iran are expected to be

released today. An Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesperson says it's part of a

wider US-Iran deal. U.S. officials say the five Americans were all wrongfully detained,

and sources briefed on the matter say a jet is on

standby to bring them to Qatar and five Iranian nationals will be sent by the US

back to Iran.

CNN's international diplomatic editor Nick Nick Robertson, has more.

This is a deal that's been in the works for some time.

These five American Iranian prisoners will be released.

They'll be put aboard a Katari airline's flight and flown to Doha, where they're expected to meet

US officials on the tarmac there.

It's been a deal that it has been difficult to achieve.

It allows for $6 billion of frozen Iranian assets to be

put in a bank where Iran can get access to them monitored by the US Treasury but only

for use for humanitarian goods.

Pressure is mounting for President Joe Biden, and he's got a busy week ahead of him.

First up, his diplomatic skills are being put to the test.

Biden is in New York for the UN's General Assembly today, where Russia's war in Ukraine,

lethal floods in Libya, multiple coups on the African continent, and climate change are just a few of the topics on the table for discussion.
