0:08.0	Thank you for joining me. This week we're studying in our curriculum, Genesis 12 through 18, and Abraham 1 and 2 in the Pearl of Great Price.
0:16.6	Boy, there's a lot of material in here, and we're not even talking about the sacrifice this week.
0:20.4	We're going to talk about that next week.
0:22.1	But there's just so much to say about Father Abraham.
0:26.1	And I think about this a lot, that, you know, if we want the blessings of Abraham,
0:31.1	we need to try to live a life like Abraham's life, which is certainly demanding from the beginning and full of challenge
0:40.1	and obstacles to overcome, which he does. We're blessed to be of his seed, and we're part of the
0:48.2	great promises made to this ancient and righteous patriarch. I hope we feel that, whether by birth or by adoption, of course,
0:59.4	all the genetic lines are pretty mixed these days. It's fun to get on ancestry if you've done
1:05.2	that DNA test and whatever and see just the wide variety of places that we come from. However that looks, we are Abraham's seed
1:14.4	either by birthright or by adoption into his family if we accept the gospel of Jesus Christ.
1:22.8	And even if we are born into the birthright of Abraham, that doesn't guarantee anything if we don't choose to be accepting and worthy of that birthright.
1:32.0	So blessings to Father Abraham and all the patriarchs that established that path of faith, that example of fortitude, of dedication and commitment to God against whatever odds were presented.
1:51.7	I love them for their choices and their obedience and their example.
2:02.1	And we're going to celebrate some of that today.
2:05.6	First, a couple of comments about the current situation.
2:12.6	And, boy, we're not even touching on, you know, the breadth of news that's out there, but you probably
2:19.2	heard about the Super Bowl halftime show. I didn't watch it at the time or after, but I did
2:23.4	certainly heard a lot about it coming before the Super Bowl happened. And then after the fallout
2:30.1	continues, it's not the first time that there's been something inappropriate for the Super Bowl
2:35.6	halftime. I mean, it's been known to push the limits and, you know, be vulgar and scantily
