Hi, and welcome to the Five Word Prayers Daily, a five-day-a-week, daily devotional where we share the word, prayers, in our heart.

0:07.8

I'm Lisa Whittle, and I welcome you to just five minutes with me, which I trust and pray will be five minutes well spent.

0:13.6

I'm into this week on the Five-Word Prayers Daily because we're diving into this subject in our second G-themed week.

0:19.6

Talked about grieving last week because it's a real

0:21.9

thing over the holidays. And this week, we're talking about glorifying God. What a sweet

0:26.8

subject, I think. And we can't talk about the holidays without it. The very reason for December 25th,

0:32.7

not the sort of commercialized thing we've made it to be. But I want to get into things like

1:10.4

1:13.7

I liked this definition because I think it gives a down-to-earth definition to a word that can feel

1:18.9

kind of lofty and isn't maybe used as much in normal conversation.

1:23.6

And as I'm thinking, especially about the holidays, I think of the Christmas story itself in Luke

1:28.0

2 and the use of the word glory there. Mary has had Jesus. They went to stay in the stable because

1:34.2

there's no room in the end. An angel appears to some shepherds to announce this birth. And then it says

1:39.1

in verse 13, and suddenly there was with the angel a multitude of the heavenly host praising God and saying,

1:45.9

glory to God and the highest, and on earth, peace, goodwill toward men. I get such warm, fuzzy feelings

1:52.8

recalling this story. I really do. It's such a part of my childhood growing up in the church.
