I'm Lisa Whittle and I welcome you to just five minutes with me, which I trust and pray will be five minutes well spent.

Well, hello, hello. We are wrapping up another week's worth of shows on the Friday Five, Five word prayers daily around here, and you guys love this

0:22.3

Friday 5, which makes me so happy. Today on our list of 5 things, we're diving into a topic

0:27.4

a lot of you ask me to cover. How do you deal with a prodigal? Meaning, if you take out the

0:32.0

Christian lingo, a child who was raised in the faith, but for whatever reason, they leave the

0:36.5

faith and for the moment aren't returning to God. I know it's a deep ache for many parents, and some of us who may not

0:42.3

be in that place right now may find ourselves one day there, so we should pay close attention to

1:24.4

the tendency of most parents, at least at first, we want to talk with our

1:27.6

prodigal and try to talk them into coming back to God.

1:31.9

While I do think we ought to be honest about what being away from the Lord can result in,

1:36.5

we need to shoot them straight about that.

1:38.6

I'd like us to try to remember that we must be wise in our approach and remember that the

1:43.2

goal is to endear them to Christ.

1:46.2

People choose what they desire ultimately. We all do, not what we're talked into or certainly

1:52.4

not what we're strong-armed into. Nobody really ever can accomplish anything with that.
