Hi, and welcome to the Five Word Prayers Daily, a five-day-a-week daily devotional where we share the

word, prayers, in our heart. I'm Lisa Whittle, and I welcome you to just five minutes with me,

which I trust and pray will be five minutes well spent. While I'm switching it up and breaking

rules and doing something a little different today on the show, that's the nice thing about

having my own show, is I can do that. You guys love the Friday

five, which I'm thrilled about. So I'm bringing that back this month. And this week, I'm doing the

Friday five on Thursday and Friday to list this week coming at you. And today I'm going to talk

about five things I hope will be helpful to you in your church search. Yes, a lot of you send me messages about how you're looking

for a church. And knowing I've been a lifer with the church and have a great love there, have asked my

advice on this. So I think it's worth exploring a bit on the show today. Let's talk church on the daily

today. So I do think it's important to get biblical for a minute if we're going to talk

church because the New Testament church is a model for us certainly, and Acts 2 is the chapter in

the Bible where it's detailed. I cannot tell you how many sermons I've personally sat through

teaching through the last four verses in this chapter, and for good reason,

because while no church with humans in it has ever been perfect, which I think we forget that

and idolize the early church sometimes, that early church does sound pretty awesome, I have to admit.

All the believers were together and had everything in common,

it says in Acts 2. They sold property and possessions to give to everyone who had need.

Every day they continued to meet together in the temple courts. They broke bread in their homes

and ate together with glad and sincere hearts, praising God and enjoying the favor of all the people.

And the Lord added to their number daily
