Hi, and welcome to the Five Word Prayers Daily, a five day a week daily devotional where we share the word, prayers, and our heart. I'm Lisa Whittle, and I welcome you to just five minutes with me, which I trust and pray will be five minutes well spent. So we've been doing the Friday five for a while, five random things every Friday to give us a break from the inspiration and do something a little different. Today we're going to do

0:20.9

sort of a modified Friday five before we start a different Friday feature for this month,

0:25.3

our Friday friends. But one of the chapters in the Seven Hardest Things book is that of the

0:29.8

seeming contradiction of proceeding in life and waiting. We have to do both at times, right?

0:35.1

So I thought it might be good to look at five truths about

0:37.9

when to stop and when to go. You up for it? We can all use a little counsel on this, I think.

0:48.2

When to proceed in life or with plans and just plow forward or when to wait on God. Man, this is a tough one for me for sure. I don't

0:55.6

trust myself that I know. Even recently, I've been struggling with some decisions and should I move on

1:00.6

this or not. And we need wisdom for proceeding and waiting, I think, almost more than anything else

1:05.9

in life. So let's look quickly at five truths about when to stop, stop meaning wait, and when to go to help

1:12.2

us unpack it just a little bit. Number one, opposition does not automatically mean we shouldn't

1:18.5

proceed on. I think this is important. Sometimes opposition can be a red flag. Yes, we need to pay

1:23.9

attention, but it can also just be a natural part of other people not understanding

1:28.8

what God wants us to do. It's why we have to really be in tune and in prayer with God so that we can

1:33.9

know the difference. I think about Noah and what if Noah had let the opposition from other people

1:38.8

stop him from what God had told him clearly he was to do. It was something that on the surface made no logical sense.

1:47.1

He didn't have proof that it was necessary what God was asking of him. And yet, it was exactly

1:52.9

what he was supposed to do. It was so important. So we have to go when God says go and not ask

1:58.9

for a second opinion. So don't automatically assume that when you

2:03.0

you come upon opposition, it means that we shouldn't proceed. Number two, if God tells you to go

2:09.6

immediately turn around and ask him for wisdom. If you're sensing God's asking you to do something,

2:16.2

then the very next thing is, okay, God,
