Gay Friday, happy June 1st, and welcome to the Friday Five, five random things to switch it up a bit from our week of inspiration. Well, you all know

how crazy I am about my kids, and we've done a mom series and some parenting emphasis, but today

on the Friday 5, I want to do five crucial questions to ask your teenager. And by the way, even if

you're not a parent, but maybe you work with teens or young adults, this show is also for you.

Goodness, parenting teens and young adults and working with them is not for wimps, but it is so

crazy fun I've found. You ready for the questions? Let's do it. I've always said about counselors that a good counselor just knows how to ask the right question

to get you to go to the core of who you are. And it's no different in raising kids, I'll tell you

that. The questions you ask are so important in your communication with them. And though you may not

always get long answers, you may definitely not always get the answers you want.

It's important to keep asking the right questions to have your finger on the pulse of where they are.

We have a lot to cover, so let's quickly dive in.

The five crucial questions to ask the teen or young adult in your life.

Here you go.

Number one, the best question to ask, how's your heart? How's your

heart? This, I think, is a better question than just how are you? Because it goes deeper and it

makes them think a little bit more. It's harder for them to blow off the question, how's your heart?

But also be ready when you ask this because they just may tell you something that then hurts yours.

How's Your Heart is a good overall question to ask at times.

And by the way, remember, all the questions that I'm going to list for you, don't ask all of them at one time or that teen will probably get overwhelmed.
