I'm Lisa Whittle, and I welcome you to just five minutes with me, which I trust and pray, will be five minutes well spent.

FOMO, F-O-O-M-O. We all know what this means, right? The fear of missing out. Look, this might seem like a

crazy topic to cover on the five-word prayers daily, but I would dare say it's something the

majority of women struggle with no matter what our age, and maybe guys do too. It being the

weekend and people having plans and posting all these fun plans on social media is the perfect time to

talk about this thing that is such a thing. You just Google the initials and all kinds of stuff

pops up. Trust me. It's at least worth a few minutes, I think, talking about it, don't you?

Fear of missing out.

Here's the first definition that popped up today when I googled it.

Anxiety that an exciting or interesting event may currently be happening elsewhere,

often aroused by posts seen on a social media website. Good old social media. We can always count on it to give

us anxiety, right? I think we can all grasp what the issue is really in practical situations,

but here's what came to my mind. We see everyone, and by the way, everyone is in air quotes,

in a picture that someone's posted on social media

and they're all together and we realize we weren't invited to that thing or we knew about it

but we couldn't go and then we imagine all the conversations happening and all the laughs and all

the smiles that we weren't a part of. And to be honest, this happens a lot in what I do because the

Christian speaker and author community is sort of a funny, odd one in that it's quite small,

and a lot of us know each other. And at any given time, there are about a handful of us who are in

the same place at the same time. And then there are a handful of us that aren't. And do you know even grown women struggle with the fear of missing out?

It's true.
