Hi, and welcome to the Five Word Prayers Daily, a five day a week daily devotional where we share the word, prayers, in our heart.

I'm Lisa Whittle, and I welcome you to just five minutes with me, which I trust and pray will be five minutes well spent.

One of the most important aspects of life, I think, is having something we're living for, having a cause, a focus, something we spend our

life fighting for, if you will. Otherwise, eventually our floating through life gets very

stale and unfulfilling and we'll either numb ourselves by vacationing all the time or shopping

or watching TV or other more destructive things or we'll just want to do what I call jump out of our skin

to the point we finally do something about our lack of life mission. Today I want to talk about

one thing we often actually waste time fighting for and where our real fight needs to be.

So I've been recognizing that we're needs to be. So I've been writing books now since 2006, actually, and I'll never forget being a younger

author and someone said something negative about me online. It was a bad book review, I think,

and it absolutely threw me off and it sent me for a time

into a tailspin.

So I was lamenting to God about this in my bathroom, which incidentally is a place, a lot of my

conversations with God take place for some reason.

Does this mean I spend too much time in there or what?

Okay.

I don't want to read into that.

But I'll never forget as I was talking to the Lord about it, how I was hurt by this comment and how it wasn't right or fair and how much I disagreed with what they said and how could the Lord

allow them to say this and online and all of that, the Lord spoke to my heart and he

said to me this, Lisa, don't fight for people to love you, fight for people to love me.

And it honestly was a moment that changed my life because I realized that for most of my life

in one way or another, I had been fighting for people to love me,
