Hi, and welcome to Five Word Prayers Daily, a five-day-a-week daily devotional where we share the

0:05.8

word, prayers, and our heart. I'm Lisa Whittle, and I welcome you to just five minutes with me,

0:11.0

which I trust and pray will be five minutes well spent. Well, happy Friday, friends. I love this day

0:16.6

of the week. So it's the last day of our week-long series about obedience. And to close things out,

0:21.8

I'm going to dive into a story that may be familiar to some, may not be to others, but it perfectly

0:26.8

illustrates, I think, human nature where God stands with all of it and how it all might end up

1:06.6

1:11.5

unfamiliarity and difficulty, they begin to complain and question God. This time, their struggle and

1:18.7

angst is centered on food, and they're not happy about the situation. They're complaining to and

1:24.4

about Moses and Aaron, their leaders. And they're even saying this in verse three,

1:29.0

oh, that we were back in Egypt. It's hard to believe, isn't it? But that's where they were.

1:34.1

It would have been better if the Lord had killed us there. At least there we had plenty to eat,

1:39.2

but now you've brought us into this desert to starve us to death. Now, we don't have time to

1:43.7

read the whole passage,

1:44.7

but I hope later you'll go back and read that scene from Exodus 16. Read the whole chapter.

1:49.2

I love the whole book of Exodus, really. But in a nutshell, here's where it goes from there,

1:54.2

what I just read. The Lord, of course, hears all this and in his grace and great love and giving
