Hi, and welcome to Five Word Prayers Daily, a Five Day a Week, Daily Devotional where we share the word, prayers, and our heart.

I'm Lisa Whittle, and I welcome you to just five minutes with me, which I trust and pray will be five minutes well spent.

Today is the halfway mark in our conversation about obedience, and if you haven't listened to Monday and Tuesday's show, I hope you'll go back

and do that at some point. Obedience is such an important spiritual concept and such a hard one,

at least for me, that I knew we needed more than one show to dive into it. So that's what we've

been doing. Remember, it's been all based on Deuteronomy 30, 20, where Jesus tells the Israelites

back then, and us today,

the three choices we have to make in life, to love, obey, and commit to the Lord.

None as easy as they may sound, but truly as he says, the tipping point between life and death,

blessings and cursings. So today we're going to do some prep work, if you will,

some help in getting us ready for a day that we might have to obey God in something really

big like Abraham. As we've been studying the past two days, there's a key to this, I believe,

and we'll talk about it in just a minute. So here's the reality. As humans, we want a lot of things for less,

right? We want instant fame or money or nice things without working for it.

We want quick food, microwave relationships.

And when it comes to God, we want passion and depth and strength for the long haul, but without

putting in much effort.

It's just kind of who we are.

It's our human nature.

It truly is the nature by which we are humans.

And yet it is something that with God's help,

I believe we can absolutely change and overcome and need to, by the way.
