Hello listeners, welcome to this new episode of the podcast, which I think is episode 598.

And my dad's back on the podcast today to talk about recent things happening in the news, including political things, especially Brexit.

We call these episodes, the Rick Thompson Report. The last one of these was a few months ago

when Theresa May was attempting to get support from all the MPs in Parliament

for the Brexit deal that she'd managed to negotiate with EU leaders, but each time

she asked Parliament to accept her deal they voted against it, mainly due to the

complications with the Northern Irish backstop.

That's what we were talking about before.

The date then for Brexit was pushed back to the 31st of October

this year, that's Halloween of course, subject to an agreement with the EU that the UK would

take part in the EU elections to choose members of the European Parliament.
