Leviticus chapter 26 verses 40 through 42

but if they confess their iniquity and the iniquity of their fathers in their treachery that they

committed against me, and also in walking contrary to me, so that I walked contrary to them and brought them into the land of

their enemies. If then their uncircumcised heart is humbled and they make amends for their iniquity, then I will remember my covenant with

Jacob and I will remember my covenant with Isaac and my covenant with Abraham and I will

remember the land.

The whole picture here as God gives his people his law is the reality that they will disobey it.

They know it, God knows it, and yet he is making a way

for his promise and blessing to still be theirs ultimately through sacrifice

for sin that we see in Leviticus all over the place and namely in the day of atonement but it's not just

sacrifice for sin as if it's totally outside them it's confession of in equity in their hearts it's a humbling here in ver of

an equity in their hearts. It's a humbling here in verse 41 of their hearts

before God that says we are sorry for sin and we hate it. don't want to do it and we humble ourselves before you

God and we pray to help us to turn from it. This is a heart that is pleasing to God. Confession is the key that opens the door to blessing from God.

Humility, the key that opens the door to the favor of God.

So as we think about our Christian lives, may these keys mark us on a daily

basis, humble confession, humility and confession.

Even right now as we pray, oh God, search our hearts.
