| 0:31.2 | How can we get one and how can we let go of the other? Well, first of all, let's think about what one and the other is. |
| 0:41.2 | Procrastination is obviously the lack of doing something. |
| 0:44.8 | Motivation is the instigation of actually doing something. |
| 0:49.9 | And we want to be able to move ourselves from procrastination to motivation. |
| 0:54.7 | Now the thing is what we've got to really understand is that when it comes to procrastination |
| 1:03.1 | and motivation, specifically motivation, it is run by an unconscious aspect of us. |
| 1:08.9 | You see our drivers, our motivations and all those things |
| 1:13.6 | come from our values. You see, if you have a high value for doing something very, which is |
| 1:21.0 | important to you, you're more likely to go ahead and do it. If you have a high value of money, you're probably going to be more |
| 1:29.6 | driven to money. If you have a high value for, say, family life, the chances are you're going |
| 1:35.2 | to be more driven to be around family. So it is important to understand that a lot of |
| 1:43.8 | motivation and procrastination comes from our values, |
| 1:49.0 | things which are important to us. But it does go a little bit deeper than that. Because |
| 1:56.0 | we, if we think about the first real reason why we do not do things, we are driven away |
| 2:04.4 | from pain, right? |
| 2:06.6 | You don't want to go into pain so it's easier to not do something. |
| 2:10.7 | If you think if you have a goal or a dream that you would like to achieve, where it be big, |
| 2:14.4 | wherever it be very, very small, the chances are the reason why we're not doing it |
| 2:21.0 | because it's easier not to do it, right? It's easier to watch TV. It is easier to go on social media. |
