Welcome to the Jay Scott Outdoors podcast. Today is going to be a fun episode. I've got Christian Epps on the line. He's an Arizona resident about to go on his first archery elkunt in the state of Arizona.

Christian, I'll let you do a little intro on yourself, tell everyone what unit you have,

and you've got a bunch of questions.

I figured it would be best just to record this and maybe some

other people could get some value out of it as well.

Awesome thanks Jay I really appreciate this I have quite a few questions like you said this is my very first archery elk tag I and

my I was lucky enough to draw a unit one tag in the rut this year. I've been waiting for this tag for a very long time.

I grew up in the Heber-Oberguad area, went to high school there, but and always hunted 3c but never spent much time at all in unit one.

And then I've never had really much experience at all hunting archery elk.

So I'm full of tons of questions, Jay,

and excited to go to pick your brain a little bit.

Let's just get right into it for sure.

So Unit 1, Arizona, for those listeners that don't know where Unit 1 is, it's on the eastern part of the state.

It actually borders New Mexico, so the eastern part of Unit one borders the New Mexico line also is kind of over there

by the White Mountain Apache reservation has some border on it. It's kind of over in the pine top area,

pine top solo area to give a little context and then kind of over on the

eastern edge of the unit.

Well, I guess more on the eastern side of the unit,

you've got Alpine.

So definitely Eastern Arizona,
