Our guest today is best-selling young adult fantasy author Garth Nix.

He's best known as the author of the Old Kingdom series which includes the novels

Sabriel, Luryl, and Ebbhorsen. A fourth book, Clarial, will be released next year.

He's also the author of the seventh Tower series and the

Keys to the Kingdom series, as well as Trouble Twisters, a new series that he's

writing in collaboration with Sean Williams. Nick's latest novel, A Confusion of Princes is his first foray into the space adventure genre.

Okay, so first of all, just what kind of an impact

is being from Australia had on your fiction

and on your writing career?

I think I've actually benefited from Australia being a kind of combination of both British and American culture. We kind of got the best of both British and American television and

books, so science fiction and fantasy and so on. So I'm familiar with a lot of, for example, American books and

television that the British author of my generation might not be. I got

started pretty much as the internet was on the rise and it wasn't all that long before

the internet made being published and doing business
