Summary

Welcome back to the first episode of the New Year! I'm so excited to bring you lots of great episodes with many smart and interesting guests in 2020. The first of which is Bible teacher and apologist Jean E. Jones who joins me on today's podcast to talk about why God might seem different in the Old Testament. As many of us are beginning our Bible reading plans for the year, Jean E. gives us some great advice and talks about specific verses that leave many people scratching their heads and thinking, "God is mean!"Resources mentioned:Jean E.'s New Bible Study, Discovering Jesus in the Old Testament:www.amazon.com/Discovering-Jesus…vZ0NsaWNrPXRydWU= (%5C)NIV Study Bible:www.amazon.com/NIV-Study-Bible-H…nQ2xpY2s9dHJ1ZQ== (%5C)Rachel Held Evans' Blog post about Abraham:rachelheldevans.com/blog/fail-abraham-test (%5C)Jean E.'s Blog series responding to Rachel Held Evans:www.jeanejones.net/2015/10/was-abr…d-evans-part-1/ (%5C)My review of Rachel Held Evans' book Inspired: Slaying Giants, Walking on Water, and Loving the Bible Again:www.alisachilders.com/blog/rachel-he…ming-the-bible (%5C)

the editing process which turns out I love. I did not dream. I would love the editing process

1:02.3

as much as I do but I have a great editing team. Just very sharp, very smart people that I'm so

1:09.5

blessed to be working with and so be praying for me and for our team as we finish up that book as

1:15.0

it's shaping up it's really my prayer that this book is going to be a great resource to help people

1:21.7

who are going through maybe a bit of that deconstruction process but to help them with their

1:26.7

reconstruction because it's really the story of my reconstruction and so I really pray that that

1:33.0

will help a lot of people be looking for that in fall of 2020. In the meantime now that the

1:38.8

entire book is turned in and I'm not just completely bogged down with writing it I'll be able to get

1:44.3

back to blogging and also these first few podcasts of the new year that I have lined up for you. I'm

1:50.7

really excited to bring you. We're going to be talking with Christa Bontrager who's a great

1:55.3

apologist who has recently just done a ton of research into mobs and if you're not familiar mobs

2:01.5

as moms of preschoolers they have bit conferences they've got chapters in many churches all around

2:07.7

and we've been hearing kind of smattering that mobs might be heading in a progressive Christian

direction and so Christa has done a ton of research she's going to bring that research to the
