Oh my goodness. Hey, hi, it's Mike. Did you know that Abe and Bridget and me are trying

0:05.4

to make a movie right now? Yes, right dang now. It's called Papa Bear and tells the poignant

0:11.6

and hilarious true story of the time my dad came out as a gay furry when I was 17.

I kind of missed DreamWorks's animation style actually. Yeah, I do. I only saw a few DreamWorks

1:18.0

animated films in their heyday, but I kind of appreciate that there is a little bit more of

1:26.4

fidelity to realism in some ways than like Pixar. It's not as cartoony as Pixar to me. I don't know

1:34.3

if I see what you mean. Yeah, I don't know. It's obviously their big cartoons in their DreamWork

1:39.4

face, which is like a popular theme. There's definitely something like that's what made them all

1:48.0

look the same and that's easy to make fun of thing, but they were trying to do something different

1:54.3

from like let's reinvent the artistic wheel. Other time there's a texture to them that I feel like

2:03.3

you just don't see in movies anymore. They definitely have their own like you know it's minor,

2:08.3

but unique sort of affectation that is missing and that's kind of unfortunate. It does make me

2:16.0

realize that like you know how like golden era of Disney animation 90s, you know little mermaid,

2:23.3

Aladdin, etc. They all had a they have a similar look and there's something about the legacy

2:30.8

where it's like oh they all look and feel the same. So even so if you like it, that means the next

2:37.4

one that it already feels like a warm blanket, you know. Well, I mean I don't want to jump too far

2:43.2

ahead into your theory, but I will say that one thing that struck me as I was reading it is

2:50.3

that Shrek 2 is a little bit on an animation continuum that might start with Aladdin.

2:56.4

Aladdin might be the first film that's doing some of the ideas that you're talking about in animation.
