| 0:00.0 | Welcome to the Happiness Podcast. I'm Dr. Robert Puff. My office where I see people is in Newport Beach, |
| 0:09.3 | California. A few months ago, a new high-end workout studio opened up in my complex called Drench. It's very |
| 0:16.3 | popular in Southern California. What surprised me about this high-end studio is that during the week, |
| 0:23.0 | during normal office hours where most of us are at work, the studio classes are packed with people |
| 0:29.1 | attending their classes. And these are not inexpensive classes. And then the building right beside me, |
| 0:35.0 | which has been there a little bit longer, does Botox. |
| 0:37.7 | And again, they get a lot of traffic. |
| 0:39.9 | They even have a van that goes around distributing Botox. |
| 0:43.1 | I know it's Southern California. |
| 0:45.0 | But it's amazing how much we will spend and how much time we'll put towards keeping ourselves looking young and fit. |
| 0:53.1 | I don't think there's necessarily anything wrong |
| 0:55.6 | with this. It's just that no matter how hard we work at it, after our 20s and 30s, there's |
| 1:00.9 | inevitable declines. But not only to our bodies age, our souls too experience a lot of decline |
| 1:07.7 | because life is hard. Our soul, however, has the capacity to grow |
| 1:12.9 | more beautiful, robust, and radiant every single day until the end of our lives. |
| 1:18.9 | And I think there's a real tendency when we are going through the tough times of life. We often just complain. |
| 1:25.6 | What if instead, like with physical training, we started doing resistance |
| 1:30.7 | training for our soul. And remember, when it comes to our soul, we can keep growing until |
| 1:36.9 | the very last day of our lives, becoming more beautiful and radiant until we take our last breath. |
| 1:43.4 | So today I want to explore with you |
| 1:46.7 | how we can start making the development of our soul, not just the beautification of our body, |
| 1:52.2 | as we journey through life. Why do we invest so much more into our physical appearance |
