Welcome to the Beginners Garden podcast. I'm Jill McShehehehe with Journey Withjil.net, and my goal is to be back with you today.

0:31.6

In this episode, we're going to be talking about growing a fall garden.

0:36.6

If planting for a fall harvest seems a little

0:40.5

bit intimidating to you, I completely understand. In fact, my first couple of years, I didn't

0:46.2

even try a fall garden. Honestly, I was tired. After all the work on my very first garden and maybe even year two, I was done. I was so

0:57.7

exhausted. I was ready to clean up the garden and I just wanted to go and take my winter break.

1:04.3

But after a couple of years, I started hearing more and more about how rewarding a fall garden

1:09.9

could be. So I decided to try my hand at it

1:12.9

1:24.1

going to be doing a whole other garden in the fall, which depending on your

1:27.6

garden space, you may, but for me, it's much smaller, much more manageable and rewarding in its own

1:36.3

1:46.9

challenging thing for me because right now at the end of July, the beginning part of August,

1:52.6

I am so busy harvesting and canning and our hot weather is absolutely oppressive. Like a couple of weeks ago, we had excessive heat warnings,

2:03.4

which is uncommon even for my area in Arkansas, but you just didn't want to be outside. Even at 6 a.m.,

2:10.3

you're drenching with sweat. So I know some of you guys that live more southern than me,

2:16.0

you totally get that. So it's really hard to think about

2:19.4

starting a brand new garden layout an area and all the things that go with a fall garden when

2:26.6

your neck deep in harvesting and preserving in just the heat of the summer but what i want to do

2:33.3

today is i want to go over several things about planning a fall garden.
