Hello and welcome to episode 58 of the Mindful Kind podcast. The idea for this podcast episode has been brewing for

some time now, but to be completely honest with you, I wasn't really sure how I wanted to talk

about it. You see, non-judgment is a really important part of mindfulness, but it's something I

still really struggle with myself.

Slowly, though, I've been practicing and more and more it's feeling easier to be less

judgmental of the moment, including how I feel and think in that moment and also what my

experience of that moment is. If you've been following me along

on social media or reading my newsletters, you might already know that I've been unwell a few

times over the last month. A cold turned into a chest infection and I developed a tooth infection

and the antibiotics knocked me around. It wasn't a particularly

enjoyable time, but I also saw it as an opportunity to practice mindfulness, including non-judgment.

So here's a bit of a breakdown of what I tried to do. One, experience something which wasn't pleasant. Two, try not to judge it as bad or wrong

or wish it was over. Three, move on and let go. It was a very different reaction to sickness that I've

had in the past. For example, back when I was in year 11 of high school, I was having difficulties

with headaches. I would get them at least every few days, sometimes just day after day,

from my neck up the back of my head. I did test for my eyesight, I had scans done, and eventually
