Gramer Girl here, I'm Minion Fogarty and this week I have lots of follow-up about past

topics and a tidbit about the phrase is jury rigged and jerry rigged.

First, in response to my segment about making names with junior possessive, the Daniel

J. Lewis on Twitter wondered why we don't call women junior, and I thought it was a

great question.

It turns out that a woman can be a junior just like a man, but it's just rare.

People don't do it very often.

Maybe because if you're into the whole family name legacy thing, it doesn't usually work

well with women, at least not in the US, because they often end up taking their husband's

name when they get married, so then the name changes anyway.

I did find a few examples though.

The designer Caroline Herrera named her daughter Caroline Herrera Junior.

And first lady Anna Eleanor Roosevelt named her first daughter Anna Eleanor Roosevelt.

Although it's not clear to me that the younger Anna was ever referred to as junior, I did

find court documents that referred to the mother as Anna Eleanor Roosevelt Senior.

Finally, Winnie on Twitter also said that Rory on the Gilmore Girls officially has the

same name as her mom, but fan sites tell me they have different middle names, so I don't

think that counts.

All three names, first middle and last, need to be identical for someone to be a junior.
